Solitaire Tripeaks: A Great Journey is a card game with a travel theme. The player explores different islands in a vast ocean. They can only progress on their journey when they win TriPeaks card games.
The player starts on a jungle island known as Bella Island. Once they complete all the levels, they can explore Skull Island, Pyramid Island, Ice Island, Volcanic Island, Kung Fu Island, Easter Islands, Candy Island, Tigridia (Tiger Flower) Island, and Turtle Island.
The game presents the player with layers of face-down and face-up cards, a draw pile and a draw card. The player must select a face-up card that has a value that's one higher or lower than the draw pile card. If they can't find a match, they must pull cards from the draw pile until they find one that's higher or lower in value than the face-up cards.
Solitaire Tripeaks: A Great Journey offers boosters that the player can purchase with coins before a card game. That said, these tools are expensive. Additionally, the player can find more value by using their coins to buy extra draw cards during play and undo moves. If they don't have a choice, they can refill their upper-left coin balance quickly by removing five face-up cards in a streak.
After the player wins, they receive completion coins, a speed bonus and a combo bonus. They can also open treasure chests when they complete a specific number of levels. A chest might contain a side game. For example, the player might select face-down coin cards in a mini game until they find a skull card. They then receive the sum of the flipped cards. Other bonuses include extra coins for any remaining draw pile cards and ad views, a daily bonus, free play tickets, and new unlocked card designs.
